Sure, my summer tour ended a good three months ago, but one of my favorite things about driving around all Summer was listening to music in the car. I assembled this playlist as I went and decided to share it with you, along with a little breakdown about each track and why it was there. You can listen to the playlist on Apple Music or Spotify! While I was in the Pacific Northwest, my friends with Unparalleled Suffering and The Evidence Box took me to a local dairy farm they had connected with to take some photos. I was going to write a post about this, but really, what I said on Facebook about this really sums up how it felt: Continue reading →
It looks like we’ve got an annual thing going here! I am so excited to report that for the second year in a row, I have been invited to curate an evening of queer musicians for the Queerly Festival here in NYC! We’ll be at The Kraine Theater in the East Village on June 26th and this year’s guests will be Joel B. New, Anna/Kate Band, and My Demon Sister! Continue reading →
I just finished up 4 days of running an electronic music workshop at Moogfest with my friend Eban Crawford AKA Senator Jaiz. We took groups of people through the process of creating an 8 to 16 bar piece of music in Ableton Live digital recording software. I captured TONS of footage with my new camera which I will be editing into vlogs this week. I’m really having a blast getting into shooting videos and photos, and looking forward to developing these skills (over the next month omg) to document my tour this summer.
I am elated by the feedback I have been getting about The Animal Show, both from people I know and great reviews like this one. Lots of people have been asking me if I am going to do it again and the answer is a resounding “HELL YES!” I’m excited to share with you the seeds of the plan to remount the show, but first, I promised an update about the budget.

It’s been just over a week since the final performance of my solo show, The Animal Show, and I feel like doing a little reflection on how it all went. All in all, I am pretty thrilled with the experience. I had great crowds all three nights, and it’s always a blast to perform at Dixon Place. The staff is outstanding and the space is perfect. I got some great press (Huffington Post, Vegan Future Now, Broadway Box, and this great review in Theasy!) Oh, and Sandra Bernhard came to the show, tweeted about it and talked about it on her Sirius XM show. Rock!
On Monday night I hosted the first ever live episode of my long running MikeyPod podcast. I had a great line up of guests, including Eve Beglarian, Victoria Libertore, Duncan Pflaster, Will Shishmanian and Sugar Vendil. The podcast of the event will go up in the feed at mikeypod.com on July 4th, but in the meantime I wanted to post this story I shared at the show. I’m pretty proud of this piece and it’s perfect for Pride. Continue reading →
It certainly has been a long time since I’ve written on this blog, hasn’t it? It’s not that I’m not writing or sharing. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat have been getting plenty of attention — not to mention my Drip subscription page where I have been posting pretty frequent updates and works in progress. I would love to have more people over there in that community and it’s a mere $5 per month. I’m working on a cool project I’m going to be sharing with those folks and that $5 goes much further in support of my work than you might realize.
In the past few months since my last update here, I’ve run some races, scored some short films, and most importantly, shared some live works-in-progress from The Animal Show. The big show will be going up in October, but I did a public reading of the material I’ve written so far. I was pretty freaked out leading up to it. Lots of the pieces were unfinished and raw and really just so disconnected. Continue reading →
